Sushi Please

I have started yet another project. Mason Dixon Knitting finally came in at the library and I snatched it up (after 3 weeks of waiting gah!). I have started the baby kimino and am halfway thru the first sleeve.

I'm completely retarded when it comes to following directions and knitting. The pattern calls for Peaches & Cream cotton yarn. I substituted for Sugar and Spice Cotton yarn by Lily. I am using the size 6 needles. No I don't swatch. So of course the kimino looks really small. I hope my friend has a small baby. *sigh*. On another note I picked up the same yarn and color as Adrienne did from Michael's. It's the wool/soy blend from Paton's (SWS). I have NO idea what to do with it. But I love love love the color. Any ideas? Oh and it has to be something for me. I'm not sharing this one.

I also stopped by Sip N' Knit on Saturday and picked up the fabu pattern for the Noni Skinny Tube bag. They didn't have all the colors of yarn I needed so I'll just buy them online later. Hopefully cheaper too. It was super fun tho and my mother-in-law had a great time and picked up a couple of $1 patterns (she just started knitting a couple of weeks ago).

And to sign off here is a pick of me and Aiden at 19.5 wks (from last week).

Dang Penises

Well I had my ultrasound on Monday. This whole pregnancy I was sooooo sure we were having a girl. So sure that I went out a couple of weeks ago and bought $150 worth of girlie clothing. I also bought 3 yards of a pink suede fabric so I could make my own crib set (that set me back $46).

Well the tech asked me if I wanted to know the sex (duh of course) and when she scanned over I saw "it". I started to cry. I felt like such an ass. Don't get me wrong I'm totally happy that we're having a healthy baby boy, but man all that money I spent and the super cool name I had picked out. Then I felt bad because the whole time I was calling him a her (I know he can't hear me, well understand, but still). So I'm over the disappointed of not having a girl. I even purchased a super cute bedding set with a cowboy theme. So it's all good and here are the first pictures of Aiden Dane I'm not 100% sure of the spelling yet. We may go with Aidan but I'm kinda leaning towards Aiden.

And the money shot

Well Crap.

I'm this close *hands 2 inches apart* to finishing the front of the baby sweater. I've realised 2 things. One is the decreases I did should have been K2Tog. No biggie looks ok. 2nd thing I realised is that I did the decreases on the wrong end. I did them on the beginning of the row whereas they should have been done on the end of the row. Crapola. I refuse to rip back now. I'll just have to remember to do the same on the backside. Hopefully it works out.

Thanks Megan sooooo much for the directions on the links. After about 20 tries it finally worked. Also I should be attending the mtgs starting next week. Skool is done! Yay! I have to skip tomorrow night tho as that's the award ceremony for my wonderful picture and I want to collect my $200 for my hard earned work.

Also, this past weekend (fairly uneventful) we stopped at Boarders books in the mall and I was really disappointed in their knitting section. They had like 6 knitting books. Blech. I really wanted Mason Dixon Knitting, as the library still doesn't have it in of course Boarders didn't have it either. Anyway I found "Itty-Bitty Hats" by Susan Anderson. It's got over 3 dozen knitted hats for babies and toddlers. It's super cute. The first one I want to try is "Olive You" it's kind of a square hat with olives and pimentos embroidered all over it and then "Olive You" embroidered too. Hee hee, Olive You, I love you, get it? I'm so easily amused. First I must finish another piggy pod cover for my teenage cousin. She manhandles mine everytime I see her and drops not so subtle hints like "Wow, I really really like your pig, I wish I HAD ONE". She's really cute and starts school in a couple of weeks so I guess it'll be a back to school gift. I also have to figure out what to do with 40 skeins of assorted Sugar N'Cream yarn I got. I got 3 skeins of each color. Maybe it was 2 skeins. I don't remember all I know was that it was only $1 a skein and it seemed like a good deal. Suggestions always welcome.

Teens are retarded

Around the corner from my house is another house (duh) where a bunch of teens always congregate. I call it the house of "Someone's going to the ER today". The teens have made their own skate ramp (it doesn't look safe at all). The gutter in front of the house is usually littered with broken boards and what not. A couple of weeks ago as I was driving by ER house the group of teens were outside cheering on two other teens that were beating the crap out of each other. When I slowed down they stopped pummeling each other smiled nicely and waved. I kept driving and prayed that my son would atleast have enough sense to wear a mouth guard and gloves.

Yesterday I drove by and they have found a new way to kill themselves. They found a big black plastic pipe, the kind they use for underwater drains or sewage. It's big at least 4 ft tall and it was about as wide. From what I summise- 2 teens had on helmets (safety first of course) and were getting into the tube as the other teen friends were cheering them on (to their painful and slow death I'm guessing). They have a steep driveway at which the pipe was perched at the top and ready to roll down and across the street to...no wait for it.....a ramp into the woods. At least they were wearing helmets.

Finally a knitting post

I'm pretty sure I have ADD when it comes to knitting. I can't finish anything. I have about 5 projects on needles and another 3 that I put on stitch holders so I could use those needles instead of buying yet another pair. I've picked back up the Embroidered Raglan Sweater from "Knitting for Two" by Erika Knight. I've put it on hold for the past 3 months. The sweater I'm knitting is for my friends son, he's about a month old. I figure by the time I actually finish it he'll be 6months and the perfect size for the sweater. Here's where I'm at so far:

I'm still on the front and slowly making my way thru the decreases. I got a little confused as it said "Decrease" but didn't tell me how. Well actually it said When knitting a fully-fashioned garment, work the decreases 3 stitches in from the outside edge, knitting thru the back of the loops. Say what? I really should completely read my Stitch N' Bitch book. Luckily I'm at work (doing nothing) and logged onto knittinghelp.com and decided to use the SSK (slip as to knit, slip as to purl and then knit something or other). I'm praying that it works. We'll see what happens as I still have to actually finish the front, then the back and 2 sleeves. I should've made a blanket instead.

On another note, how the heck do I add links on the sidebar of my blogger to my other knitting friends? Anyone? Anyone?

I'm an Arrrrteest

Two semesters ago I took an Illustrator class. Our final project for the class was to take a "portrait" of someone and recreate it using Illustrator. I chose this picture:

And turned it into this using the magic of Illustrator:
As part of the final grade we had to submit the artwork into the school art show. I thought I would win something. I got a big fat NADA. I'm not the greatest, but compared to some of the crap that won I should have at least gotten honorable mention or something.

Hubby convinced me to submit it again to the Seminole County Art Show. I had no expectations. Especially when they called me and asked what medium it was. They don't have a category for Computer artwork. Well lo and behold I just got a call and I won 2nd place!!!! That's out of a 192 entrants. Super cool, now it moves onto the national level or something. I kinda teared up. I'm really happy now.
